Nassau, Bahamas - English actor Sophie Okonedo, recently awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2010 Queen's Birthday Honours List for her services to drama and was Bahamas International Film Festival's Rising Star of 2009.

The Bahamas Weekly takes you back to the red carpet in December of last year to hear a delightful interview with the talented actress.

The BIFF 2009 tribute was held at the Balmoral Club and Okonedo was presented with her Rising Star award by Charley Walters.
The Festival's prestigious Rising Star Award is given to an actor whose noteworthy performances have put them on the path for elite and lasting stardom in the industry.

Okonedo, is best known for her Oscar nominee best supporting actress performance for her role as Tatiana, the hotel manager's wife in Hotel Rwanda.
