Doula Delight Suitcase Returned!

Freeport, Bahamas - Award presentation was made o 27th March 2012 at the weekly luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club of Lucaya at the Ruby Swiss Restaurant.

At about 10:30pm on Tuesday 6th December 2011, Mrs Mary Delashmutt c/o Doula Delight, had just completed a teaching assignment at the Lucayan Presbyterian Kirk and was driving home, carrying her equipment valued at several thousand dollars, inside a red suitcase on the back of her truck.

As she turned onto East Sunrise Highway, unknown to her, the suitcase slid off the truck onto the roadside.  Several minutes later, another motorist stopped Mrs Delashmutt and alerted her about the suitcase falling off the truck, however, when she returned to the intersection of East Sunrise Highway and West Beach Road, the suitcase was nowhere to be found.

She reported her loss to the police and began making inquiries, trying to locate her costly instructional equipment.

However, unknown to Mrs Delashmutt, a taxicab driver: Gerard Evans of Abaco Drive, Hawksbill c/o Taxi #23, had retrieved the red suitcase from the roadside around 11:00pm that same night and secured it, while trying to locate the owner.

After contacting a security officer at the GB Trading Post, Evans found out that the suitcase belonged to Mrs Delashmutt, who was later contacted and handed her property.

As a result of his efforts and integrity displayed, Mr Evans was nominated as the " Most Courteous Driver of The Quarter-March 2012". He was presented with a mahogany inscribed plaque and a gift certificate for a full tank of gasoline.
