Neon at Night

Nassau, Bahamas – When the stars came out so did 170 plus avid walkers donned in bright neon shirts for a good cause. Fusion Superplex served as the starting line for the third annual Neon Walk hosted by Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise on Friday, 7th February 2020.

Walking with purpose through Baha Mar Boulevard to Goodman’s Bay and back, race organizers were pleased with the level of support from the community for Rotary’s signature event.

“Rotarians are people who make a difference in the lives of many,” expressed Club President Dr. Sophia Rolle. “Through generous financial support there are so many ways in which Rotary can continuously create and sustain community projects. Some of the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise’s ongoing projects include one of our favorites; the Little Library Project where we built and installed little libraries filled with reading books housed in community parks to encourage children to read throughout New Providence.”

Literacy remains a major platform for Rotarians in the club who diligently read to preschoolers on Fridays at Willard Patton Preschool. The Club also outfitted a classroom for autistic children at the school and constructed a sensory playground for special needs children at the school.

Funds raised from the Neon Walk and their upcoming golf tournament scheduled for August 1st at the Royal Blue Golf Course at Baha Mar help the Club build and maintain a number of community-based projects such as the gardens at Ms. Laura Soup Kitchen in Kemp Road, the purchase of needed school supplies for neighborhood children and periodic purchase of care packages for residents of Demetrius Home for the Aged.

As a proud supporter of the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise, Fusion Superplex is keen on corporate social responsibility and supports organizations making a difference in The Bahamas.

“Fusion is committed to serving our community and what better partner to do that with than the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise. We congratulate the officers and members on yet another successful event,’’ expressed Nikolette Elden, Chief Marketing Officer, Fusion Superplex.

Members of the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise will continue to serve as beacons in the community, providing resources and support to those in need. The Club’s annual fundraising walk-a-thon with its unique burst of neon lights will put smiles on the faces of the young and not so young for years to come.
