FREEPORT, Grand Bahama -The Minister for Grand Bahama, The Honourable Ginger Moxey, is pleased to advise the public of recent amendments to the Special Economic Recovery Zone (SERZ) Order.
All vehicles imported conditionally duty-free into Grand Bahama and Abaco under the SERZ Order are now approved to be transferred anywhere in The Bahamas without prior approval, and subsequent payment of Customs Duties.
Further, all approvals that were previously issued for importation of replacement vehicles under the SERZ Order, and have not been used by the applicant, may now be applied toward the importation of a vehicle duty-free.
In the event no prior approval was issued for the importation of replacement vehicle, applications can now be made at the offices of the Ministry for Grand Bahama and the Office of the Prime Minister in Marsh Harbour, Abaco.
Following the passage of Hurricane Dorian in 2019, scores of Grand Bahamians and Abaconians were faced with tremendous loss; and to date, continue to try to rebuild their lives. This administration has considered the fact that many of these islands' residents would have since relocated and would have been faced with financial constraints that limited their ability to replace their vehicles, within the original timeline of the SERZ Order.
These recent amendments to the SERZ Order are indicative of this government's commitment to provide immediate relief to the people of Grand Bahama and Abaco, as we work together to recover, rebuild and revolutionize our islands' economies.
