DUNDAS TOWN, Abaco, The Bahamas - Minister of National Security the Hon. Marvin Dames represented the Government as the main speaker at a Community Meeting, at the Friendship Tabernacle Church, in Dundas Town, Abaco, on September 30, 2019. The event brought together local civic leaders and residents, giving them the opportunity to voice their concerns and hear briefly what actions are in place and in the course of being implemented by the Government, especially agencies under the Ministry of National Security.

Among those speaking before the audience were Captain Philip Clarke and Lieutenant Commander Kenneth Forbes of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force; Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for the Northern Bahamas District Samuel Butler; and Hurricane Relief and Redevelopment Co-coordinator for Abaco Jack Thompson. Special remarks were also brought by Patricia Minnis, wife of Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis; the church's Bishop Silbert Mills offered an emotional prayer for the island; and Acting Permanent Secretary Eugene Poitier and Deputy Permanent Secretary Dawn Culmer, Superintendent of Police Shanta Knowles and other uniformed officers were in attendance. Among the concerns raised were island security, port and personal safety, and unregulated people entering affected communities who do not have ties to Abaco.
