For most of us, we stumble along ignorant of the exact state of health we are in. Then one day we go for a checkup and get the bad news.

Perhaps you are under the impression that you know best when it comes to monitoring your health. You may think you know best about you and your health because you are the one with the inside information, after all it is your body.

Indeed you are the one with the nod of the Lord that gives you the right to be just that, the one that is in charge, you are the one that knows best.

So you think of the pleasures that make rewards to our 'in charge' brain. You feel that good feelings are a positive brain response of good reliable pro health activities. Otherwise why go for the feel good rewards?

The other day an article was published in a very astute science journal that caught my eye for it was about the hands and the feet. Apparently it has been discovered that within the hands and the feet the arteries and veins have two types of connections to one another, of which either can move the blood in the arteries directly to the veins. Two routes exist to exchange the blood within the hands and the feet, a shunt and a field of finer capillaries.

Of interest to you, you that is in charge of your health should be the question, “Why two routes? Why a new bit of anatomy?” It all comes down to heat. That’s right, temperature of the body is a must keep steady phenomenon.

Apparently when our body gets too warm we shift blood to the capillary route of flow closer to the skin and this allows some heat venting, we cool down.

When we get cold we shift our blood through deeper shunts which bypass the capillaries and in this manner we keep more of the heat of the blood inside the body, we then warm up.

The very ancient and effective deep blood shunting method has just been found, and the concentration of the shunts and the capillaries are primarily in the hands and the feet. We feel with the nerves of the hands and feet, we feel form and texture and light or deep touch along with vibration and the ability to determine two points and we feel pain.

The inability to shunt and cool the body leads to long term inflammation, the hallmark of disease.

Now my question to you is “do you have pain in the hands, especially the palms or do you have foot pain upon deep palpation of the soles?”

Apparently the pain in the hands and the feet is present in all of the patients that have the disease of fibromyalgia.

The pain in the body is reflecting the inability of the arterio-vascular system to shunt and prevent the heat of inflammation from building up internally.

There are over one hundred bones within the feet and hands. There are over one hundred and forty joints created by the bones of the feet and hands.

In my chiropractic practice every patient gets their hands and feet evaluated for pain and fibrous adhesions. I insist on this for the real foe of all of us is the inability to lose the heat of inflammation.

The hands and feet are directly venting the internal heat of the organs and muscles. Each digit or toe or finger is a specific radiator of heat for a specific organ. This system has been called acupuncture and the practice of needle insertion causes the blood to shunt to lose or gain heat. Along with the shunting and cooling or heating correctly goes the pain.

The chiropractor is the only physician that is taught in depth about the steps for reducing foot and hand pain.
