HAITI - A new airline company run by Haitian investors, called Haiti Aviation made its inaugural flight on Friday, July 19, 2013 from Miami to Port-au-Prince.
Reports say that the investors hope it will help bring tourists back to Haiti. Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, applauded the initiative, said that talks are already underway with the leaders of the new company to develop packages for the destination. "It is a great pleasure for the Government of Haiti to receive the first Haitian airline ... since 18 years there was no airline [of this type] that comes in Haiti, so we are happy to receive them."
The airline flies between Miami and Port-au-Prince daily from Monday through Sunday; Miami to Cap-Haitien from Tuesday through Thursday and plans are in the works for the airline to fly to Panama.
