TURKS & CAICOS - The National Council of External Examinations and the Ministry of Education have expressed pride in the outstanding overall performance of TCI students in this year’s overseas exams. The Council in collaboration with the Ministry hosted the annual awards ceremony last Friday under the theme “Celebrating the Past; Igniting the Future.  It was held for the first time in North Caicos, at the Horse Stable Beach Complex.

Chairman of the National Council of External Examinations David Bowen in his report said there have been great improvements in the number of students graduating with five passes or more and an increase in the number of students passing at the General One level, instead of Two and Three.

Director of Education Edgar Howell in addressing the students and many well wishers said, “ Today we are here to celebrate the achievements of our youths, The Ministry and the Department salutes you all, you’ve done well and made us all very proud”.

Rashunda Campbell, who was born in North Caicos and attended Raymond Gardiner High School did herself, her parents, school, community, and country proud by becoming the first Top CXC student to come from North Caicos. She was adjudged best student for ten CXC General 1’s, one General 2, and two General 3 passes.  Miss. Campbell told fellow students at the ceremony, “Today I know the difference one grade can make, I urge you all to challenge yourselves in the years to come and never settle for less. No one can determine your destiny but you.”
