Nassau, Bahamas - Applications are now open for Hack<IT> Bahamas 2018, scheduled July 24-28 at St. Andrew’s School.
Open
to private and public school students in grades 9-12, Hack<IT>
Bahamas 2018 will provide five days of hands-on STEM instruction. With a
focus on developing a technology based startup, the camp will give
nearly 100 attendees the opportunity to apply their knowledge to an
issue of social impact within the Bahamas and compete for a cash prize.
Hands-on instruction begins at 9am Tuesday, July 24th, and concludes Friday, July 27th. The culminating competition and awards ceremony, held at 10am on Saturday, July 28, is open to the public. Students will compete for a grand prize, sponsored by ALIV.
This year marks the fifth for Hack<IT> Bahamas. Since its inception, nearly 400 students throughout the Caribbean have participated in programs designed and executed by STEMBoard and its partners. Past keynote speakers have included Barrington Irving, the first Jamaican and the first black man to fly around the world by himself, and astronaut Dr. Bernard A. Harris Jr., the first African-American to walk in space.
