Defence Headquarters, (RBDF): As the Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to share in the spirit of giving and enforcing the Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King’s strategic objective of strengthening relationships with stakeholders and the community at large as a socially corporate citizen, the Squadron Department recently donated essential items to the community.

On Saturday 30th January 2021, the crew of Her Majesty’s Bahamian Ship LIGNUM VITAE, led by Commanding Officer Sub Lieutenant Miska Clarke, made donations of clothing items, shoes, and personal hygiene items to the Freetown Urban Renewal Center (FURC), St James Road. On hand to receive the items were Loretta Mackey, Manager of the FURC, and Daphne Bannister.

According to Sub Lieutenant Clarke, after conducting a community assessment, the ship’s company decided to begin their year in service to the residents of the Freetown community. Ms. Mackey was appreciative of the personal hygienic kits which included but not limited to; face towels, soaps, toothpaste, shampoo, and toothbrushes, along with the clothing items.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed to guarding and protecting the territorial integrity of The Bahamas.
