Dear Editor,

It is with a heavy heart, that I write to you in reference to the loss of Michael Wilchcombe, a senior fellow in the Grand Bahamian entertainment industry. This extraordinary bassist made an indelible mark, not only in his industry,  but also in the hearts and minds of his community.

"Mikie" was always willing to share his talents and knowledge with everyone that would ask, and he exemplified what a great lover and patriot of the music industry should be.

As a charter member of the Grand Bahama Entertainers Musicians and Artists Association (GBEMAA), Mike was one who was always willing to support measures and initiatives that sought to better the lives and working conditions of Grand Bahama artists and musicians. He volunteered ideas, skills and talents to that end.

The Grand Bahama community has lost a giant of a man and an amazing musician, and I would like to express condolences on behalf of myself, and the members of the GBEMAA, Grand Bahamian entertainers, as well as supporters of live entertainment throughout the island to his immediate family and those close to Mike.

Though Michael may be gone, he will remain a bright shining star in the entertainment community, and shall not be forgotten for his contributions and his great big heart.
