NEWS ITEM ON TROPICAL DEPRESSION NUMBER 15 ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 12:00 PM TUESDAY 01ST SEPTEMBER 2020

...TROPICAL DEPRESSION FORECAST TO MOVE FARTHER AWAY FROM LAND...

AT 11:00 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION #15 WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 34.7° NORTH AND LONGITUDE 73.1° WEST OR ABOUT 140 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF CAPE HATTERAS, NORTH CAROLINA. 

NUMBER 15 IS MOVING TOWARD THE EAST-NORTHEAST AT 14 MILES PER HOUR. ON THIS CURRENT TRACK THE CENTER OF THE DEPRESSION WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE NORTH CAROLINA COAST. 

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 35 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  THE DEPRESSION COULD BECOME A TROPICAL STORM LATER TODAY OR TONIGHT.
