SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING

THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY HAS RE-ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FROM 4:10 PM EDT UNTIL 6:10 PM, WEDNESDAY 30THSEPTEMBER, 2020.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR ANDROS ALONG WITH ITS ADJACENT WATERS.

AT 4:00 PM LIGHTNING DETECTOR, RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY CONTINUED TO DEPICT CLUSTERS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SHOWERS WITH EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS STEMMING FROM  PRE-FRONTAL ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH A COLD FRONT OVER THE AREA. THE STORMS ARE MOVING TOWARDS AND OVER THE MENTIONED AREA.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE STRONG TO SEVERE AT TIMES CAPABLE OF PRODUCING STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADIC ACTIVITY. LOCALIZED FLOODING IS ALSO POSSIBLE DURING THE PASSAGE OF THESE STORMS.

BOATERS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOUR AND RESIDENTS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD STAY INDOORS AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS AS CONDITIONS WORSEN.   RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS.
