The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning from 10:00am to 1:00pm, Friday, 08th May, 2015.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Grand Bahama and adjacent waters.
Some of these thunder storms will be severe at times causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours, hail and possible waterspout or tornado activity.
A few water spouts have been observed near Freeport therefore interests in the Freeport area should take the necessary precautions to preserve life and property. Boaters in the warning area should seek safe harbour and residents in the warning area should stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen.
Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become lightning conductors.
