Freeport,
Bahamas – The 2013 Blue Ribbon Panel has been appointed to review and select
submissions in the high school, college and open categories for the
upcoming
‘FLIFF On Location: Grand Bahama Island’, to be held at the
Pelican Bay Hotel, Lucaya, October 31st through November 3rd, 2013.
In addition to independent and studio films made around the world,
movies produced in the islands of the Bahamas, as well as those made by
Bahamian filmmakers, will be featured prominently at the festival, now
in its third year.
The five panelists, all residents of Grand
Bahama are attorney
Willie A. M. Moss,
partner with the firm, Graham Thompson and Co.;
Ginger Moxey, Vice President of The Grand Bahama Port Authority,
Limited (GBPA); stage actor and film critic,
Rouen Robinson; stage actor and voice talent,
Mark Gardiner; and film producer
Cornelius
McKinney.
“I was pleasantly surprised by the level of artistic quality, coupled with the perceptive and creative nature of many of this year’s entrants," said panelist Mark Gardiner. "It's been a thrilling experience working with my fellow panelists. The Bahamas is indeed on the rise in filmmaking, as the potential here is limitless.”
FLIFF On Location opens on Thursday, October 31st at Taino Beach at 7:30pm with the winning high school film screening prior to a special outdoor screening of SAMMY 2: ESCAPE FROM PARADISE, a family adventure film. This event is free to the public.
The high school winner will also receive the following:
1.Two (2) round-trip tickets to Fort Lauderdale for the winner and a parent/guardian to attend the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) on November 8th and 9th, 2013 inclusive of accommodations and transportation to all the FLIFF Events.
2.A Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited building award for their school’s trophy case.
3. $500 cash
Visitors and residents alike will be encouraged to come out and enjoy
the films and events on offer during the four-day festival. More

FLIFF on Location will also feature
international films, outdoor screenings, an annual honour
ee
(previously Dennis Haysbert and Giancarlo Esposito),
film specialist workshops, an island locations familiarization tour for
visiting filmmakers, and an awards and wrap party at the Canal House, Pelican Bay Hotel.
Ticket
prices are Day Pass $7.00; All Movies $10.00 and All Access Pass,
$20.00 and can be purchased at the Pelican Bay Hotel. All films will be screened at Canal House, Pelican Bay except
for the opening night films which are free of charge.
