RBPF Grand Bahama: Plane crash landed in waters off West End

Freeport, Grand Bahama - Police in Grand Bahama are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash landing of an aircraft in waters off West End on Thursday 14th December 2017.

Reports are that shortly before 12:00pm, police were alerted by Air Traffic Control that a blue and white single engine aircraft coming from the United States of America had crash landed 8.5 miles off West End, Grand Bahama with two passengers on board. Police Officers along with U.S Coastguard and the Bahamas Customs Department Marine Section responded to the scene of the reported crash. A female passenger of the aircraft was retrieved from the water, she was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital for medical treatment and then airlifted to the United States for further medical treatment.

Officers are currently searching for the other male passenger and the aircraft in this incident. Investigation is continuing.
