Memorial March held for Sandra Edgecombe in Grand Bahama

Nassau, Bahamas - School children from Grand Bahama walked in a memorial march today for the late Mrs. Sandra Edgecombe, Deputy Director of Education for Grand Bahama. The procession started at Christ the King and went all through downtown, on the Mall, and in front of the Court House and Police HQ, then to the Grand Bahama Memorial Park.

Mrs. Edgecombe entered the public service in 1974. She was transferred to the Grand Bahama District in 1978. The consummate professional and a career educator, Mrs. Edgecombe ascended from trainee teacher to trained teacher, reaching the pinnacle of her career as Deputy Director of Education with responsibility for Grand Bahama, Bimini and Grand Cay.

The Minister of Education, Science and Technology, the Honourable Jerome Fitzgerald extends condolences to her husband, Mr. Godfrey Edgecombe; her son, Garris; the family and the Grand Bahama District of Education.
