Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - With the Miss Grand Bahama Beauty Pageant less than two weeks away, the slate of contestants are making their rounds at pre-event activities.
This past weekend The Miss Grand Bahama Beauty Pageant Committee hosted the Top Model, Spokes-Model and Talent Competition - the winners of these competitions will be announced June 12 at the Miss Grand Bahama Beauty Pageant to be held at the Hilton Outten Centre.
On Friday, June 3 the Swimsuit and Evening Gown Competition is scheduled at Treasure Bay Casino at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale at $5.00 at the Transition Clothing Store in the International Bazaar.
The nine contestants are gorgeous, talented and excited as they get
ready to compete for the coveted title of Miss Grand Bahama. The
winner will represent Grand Bahama Island at Miss Coffee International
in Colombia, South America and at Miss Friendship International in
China. Glenn Davis, Chairman of the Pageant is continuously seeking
opportunities to send our local beautifes to international pageants.

Contestant #1 is Misty Thomas and is sponsored by Sage Fashion, is
graduating from high school this summer. She aspires to become a
Fashion Merchandising Designer and an entrepreneur. She plays the
piano and excels in sports, namely high jumping.

Contestant #2 is Anita Roberts and is sponsored by Wyndham Club
Fortuna, who was born on Sweeting's Cay. She is dazzled by fashion and
her interests include styling hair, modelling and track.
Keriann Stuart, sponsored by Stuart's Fashions Photo: Leshan Ferguson

Contestant #3 is Keriann Brittney Stuart and is sponsored by Stuart's
Fashion. She is from Moore's Island, Abaco and describes herself as
being ambitious and self-motivated. Anita's ambition is to become a
Pediatrician. Her inspirational quote comes from the Bible, "I can do
all things through Chirst who strengthens me!"

Contestant #4 is Amanda Bloneva McIntosh and is sponsored by Family
and Friends. Amanda will graduate this summer from Eight Mile Rock
High School with honours. This ambitious young lady is proud of her
many academic achievements and looks forward to obtaining a Bachelors
Degree in Culinary Arts and Management and hope to own a Bakery,
becoming the Bahamian version of 'Ace of Cakes'.

Contestant #5 is Raquel Oliver and is sponsored by Sabor Restaurant.
Raquel is a graduate from Jack Hayward High School and has a passion
for music. She has written numerous songs namely 'Top' and 'Stronger
and Wiser' and these songs are featured on local radio stations. She
sings for happiness, dance for growth and travel to relax. Her motto
is 'Be stronger and wiser!"

Contestant #6 is Sheria Rolle and is sponsored by Rolle's Fashion.
While in high school, Sheria was an accomplished track and field
student. She has won numerous subject awards at St. George'sHigh
School, joined the Band and Choir, as well as, the Women of Honour
Society. Now graduated, Sheria intends on pursuing a Master's degree
in Architecture studies.

Contestant #7 is Leshelle Forbes and is sponsored by the Eight Mile
Rock Pageantry. Lashelle grew up in Eight Mile Rock and aspires to
become the female version of Tyler Perry and plans on writing and
starring in her own movies. Her life's motto is 'Let Go and Let God!'

Contestant #8 is Gabriel Moss and is sponsored by Crystal Seas
Enterprise. Gabriel competed in the Ford's Supermodel of The Bahamas
and was named "Catwalk Killer". She has modeled in local and
international fashion shows and participated in the Fashion Design
Expo charity event. She encourages other young ladies to not sell
themselves short and says, 'if you can think it, it can become
reality'.

Contestant #9 is Shamica Deveaux, sponsored by The Jewelry Box.
Shamica plays soccer and volleyball in her spare time, as well as,
writes poetry. She loves her family and friends and believes firmly
that 'God would not bring me to it, if He cannot bring me through it!'
She hopes to start a charitable organization whose goal is to help the
diabetics on Grand Bahama Island.
