Coral Harbour Base, 27 AUG ‘19 (RBDF): Representatives from the Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation (BREEF) paid a courtesy call on Commander Defence Force on August 23, 2019 at Coral Harbour Base.

During the visit, BREEF Executive Director, Mrs. Casuarina McKinney-Lambert, presented copies of the Foundation's 2019 Edition of “A Quick Guide to Fisheries Regulations of The Bahamas”.

The Guide was first introduced in 2013. The updated 2019 edition reflects the latest changes and includes information on protected species, approved fishing methods and fishing permit requirements. The brochure is a useful tool for promoting responsible fishing practices and adherence to The Bahamas' fisheries regulations by all who enjoy fishing within our waters--locals and visitors alike.

Information in the brochure is the result of the collaborative effort of BREEF, the Family Island Research & Education Program, the Department of Marine Resources and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

Over the past few years, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and BREEF have worked closely together in raising awareness of marine conservation within the Force through conservation training programs, coral nursery care, and the distribution of materials to mariners.

In attendance from BREEF were the Executive Director, Casuarina McKinney-Lambert; the Education Coordinator/Eco-Schools Bahamas National Operator, Kevin Glinton and their Education and Outreach Officer, Allison Ballester-Longley. Also in attendance were members of the RBDF senior command.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is committed to the protection of our country and embraces the opportunity to work along with our partners concerned with safeguarding our marine resources.
