Nassau, Bahamas - Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Perry Christie along with Minister of the
Environment and Housing, Hon. Kenred Dorsett and Executive Chairman of
the Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority, Sen. Greg Burrows
were all attended the graduation ceremony of the first crop of
lifeguard trained by the Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches
Authority.
These twelve young people received 25 hours of training in
such things as swimming and CPR. Training for the lifeguards will
continue on a monthly basis.
It is expected that lifeguards will be
stationed on public beaches around New Providence to begin with before
the Programme branches out to the Family Islands.
After the short ceremony the lifeguard conducted a life saving drill for those in attendance.
