FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – October 22, 2019 – The Islands Of The Bahamas (TIOTB) stood out this past weekend, taking part in an annual art show in Fort Lauderdale Florida hosted by Howard Alan Events. The show took place October 19th-20th on Las Olas Boulevard with hundreds of exhibitors’ works on display and thousands of passers-by on foot.
Though this is the second year that TIOTB have participated, Howard Alan made this year extra special by inviting the marketing team to participate free of charge. An act of kindness to further help hurricane relief efforts. The event provided an opportunity for The Bahamas to resound its current messaging that there are14 Islands open and ready to welcome visitors with open arms.
Howard Alan, founder of the event, shared his love and enthusiasm for Bahamian relief efforts. “I am so happy that I am able to help in the way that I can. After all we are all connected, right?” Alan shared.
The works of young Bahamian artist, Idanya Clarke, were on display at The Bahamas booth during the outdoor art event, and was well received by visitors.

The Bahamas Tourist Office (BTO) Florida marketing team, along with the young artist, got to see her work being appreciated by the thousands that strolled through the area over the two- day weekend of the popular art show. Clarke was one of some 200 artists whose works were displayed, offering at prices varying from $5.00 to $50,000.00.
Clarke’s appearance at the show was sponsored by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation (BMOTA).
The Bahamas’ involvement at the Fair was primarily to reiterate the current message that post Hurricane Dorian, 14 Islands are still open for business in a relaxed and cultural environment.
Sales Manager, Phylia Shivers, noted that being a part of the show provided a major forum for the work of the young Bahamian artist to be showcased and exposed to Floridians but was more excited about the message that The Bahamas is continuing to put out.
Shivers stated, “It’s always a pleasure to work with local talent, it is indicative of the beauty of The Bahamas. But this is much bigger than art and bigger than a sales initiative. This is about culture and love of country and collaborating with persons with whom we have a common goal. To show our country some love.”
