BTC Announces House Giveaway, Christmas Donations & Junkanoo Sponsorships
NASSAU, Bahamas - This Christmas, BTC will be upgrading one lucky customer to a brand new home as well as giving away thousands in cash, and other prizes. The company has also pledged to upgrade communities, around the Bahamas, by making donations to over 30 charitable organizations, as well as 14 Junkanoo dance groups.
“This Christmas, BTC wanted to give our customers something big! In the past, we have given away cars, trips, and cash, but we wanted to truly upgrade our loyal customers, so we decided to give away a brand new home, complete with BTC’s products and services.” said Leon Williams, CEO of BTC. “We are also giving away thousands as part of our popular ‘Text 2 Win’ promotion, and customers can enjoy ‘Free Nights’ throughout the holidays.”

Any BTC prepaid customer who signs up for a 1GB or 2GB data plan or tops up their account with $10 or more will be entered into a nationwide drawing to win a new home outfitted with the newest technology on the market. Postpaid customers can also enter to win the BTC house by signing up for any LTE combo plan or paying their mobile bill in full. Customers can enjoy the speeds of LTE with phones for as low as $59.
BTC will also be giving back to a number of charities this Christmas. “We are committed to giving back to not only our customers, but also communities around the Bahamas. This Christmas BTC is proud to be donating over $30,000 to charitable organizations, schools, and youth based organizations around the entire country. BTC is not just New Providence or Grand Bahama centric- we are dedicated to providing support to all Bahamians” noted Eldri Ferguson -Mackey, VP of Marketing.

The Kiwanis Club of Eleuthera, Abaco Key & Builders Club, Exuma Foundation, Barraterre Community Fire Service, Exuma Cancer Society, Exuma Jr. Red Cross Link, Ragged Island Red Cross Society, San Salvador Senior Citizens Outreach, Rum Cay Red Cross Society, South Andros Senior Citizens Home, Cancer Society of Andros, Long Island Cancer Society, Inagua Boys Brigade, Acklins Red Cross Society, Crooked Island High School Marching Band, Mayaguana Community Marching Band, The Dollar That Could, All Saints Camp, Centre For The Deaf, Unity House, St. Davis Methodist Church Feed The Kids Program, Grand Bahama Health Service World Diabetes Committee, The Grand Bahama AIDS Awareness Committee, and Eight Mile Rock High School will all receive a $1000 donation from BTC. The Feed the Children Program and Fox Town All Age School will also receive $500 donations.
BTC social media users were also invited to submit nominations on behalf of worthy local charities, and three organizations were chosen to receive donations, including the Bahamas Urban Youth Development Centre which will receive a $3,000 donation, Pancake Wednesdays, which will receive $1000 and Project Read Bahamas which will receive a $500 donation.

One of the selected charities, Bahamas Urban Youth Development Centre is a non-profit organisation which empowers young people, especially those involved in commercial sex work, to make safe, healthy choices. Executive Director Prodesta Moore was ecstatic to find her organisation was chosen and said the funds would be used to bring the centre’s services to the family islands.
“We are very excited to receive this donation from BTC,” Mrs Moore said. “Our current international grants end in May so we are beginning a search to establish local funding and BTC is one of the first corporate donors to step up. We are based in Grand Bahama and New Providence currently but we hope to expand to Abaco and Eleuthera. These funds will help us to increase our reach and services; they will go a long way.”

BTC is also continuing its five year, $850,000 sponsorship pledge to the Junkanoo Committee with a total of 14 Junkanoo dance groups receiving over $45,000 in sponsorships.
Division ‘A’ Groups, Saxons, Valley Boys, Roots, One Family, Music Makers and Prodigal Sons will each receive $6000 in sponsorship support. Division ‘B’ Groups, Colours, Conquerors for Christ, Body of Christ Crusaders, Fancy Dancers, Original Congos, Redland Soldiers, Foundation and Chipping Knights will all receive $1,200 from BTC.
The ‘BTC Upgrade Your Christmas Launch Event’ took place on Nov 24 at the British Colonial Hilton and featured performances by former BTC Star and singer, Jonathan Farrington, and BTC endorsed talent Chris ‘Sketch’ Carey. The St. Anne's School Choir will also perform.
