IADB designates Nassau as an "Emerging Sustainable City" - Sep 10, 2015 - 4:10:38 PM
The Inter-American Development Bank, in conjunction with the Office of
the Prime Minister, designated the City of Nassau as an Emerging Sustainable
City on September 2, 2015 at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas.
This Emerging Sustainable City Initiative (ESCI) was started
in June 2015 and is being spearheaded by the Economic Development Planning Unit
within the Office of The Prime Minister.

Initiative (ESCI) employs a multidisciplinary approach to address the
sustainable urban development challenges facing emerging cities in Latin
America and the Caribbean...

Nassau, Bahamas - Baha
Mar has been rated one of the top ten destinations in the world to visit
in 2015 by CNN Travel, as a new resort making a huge impact on luxury
travel in the region.
The
$3.5 billion luxury gaming resort, according to CNN Travel, is
“expected to send ripples across the Caribbean” when it opens in Spring
2015 with
a grand gala produced by music and entertainment icons Jamie King and

BREEF: An Artistic Platform for Reef Protection - Nov 4, 2014 - 12:28:08 PM
Nassau,
New Providence - The Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation
(BREEF) hopes that their Sir Nicholas Nuttall Coral Reef Sculpture
Garden will be a platform for raising awareness about threats to coral
reefs and the catastrophic harm that can be caused to The Bahamas if the
damage continues.
“It is an absolute must that we have more
coral reefs included within the Bahamian network of marine protected
areas,” said BREEF’s executive director Casuarina McKinney-Lambert. “We
need to further ensure that these areas are accessible for the majority
of Bahamians to enjoy...”

BREEF’s Sir Nicholas
Nuttall Coral Reef Sculpture Garden installed off the western coastline
of New Providence Island in The Bahamas earlier this month is receiving
international attention from scores of on-line journals and news outlets
around the world.
“We are excited by the recognition our
project, and by extension The Bahamas, is attracting around the world,”
said Casuarina McKinney-Lambert, BREEF’s executive director.

BREEF's Underwater Museum an Ecotourism 1st for the Bahamas - Oct 10, 2014 - 5:11:42 PM
The Bahamas Reef
Environment Educational Foundation says their multi-phase Sir Nicholas
Nuttall Coral Reef Garden now allows the Bahamas to boast of the
“world’s largest undersea artificial sculpture”. Additionally, when
completed would be a $500,000 investment into ecotourism.
Casuarina
McKinney-Lambert, BREEF’s executive director said that our underwater
museum is an eco-friendly addition to the Bahamas’ growing ecotourism
product.
“The Bahamas was already home to the world’s deepest
blue hole and the third longest fringing barrier reef,” said
McKinney-Lambert. “Now we have the world’s newest coral reef garden
located off the western tip of New Providence that incorporates many

A revitalized Nassau Botanical Gardens can serve as the 'Central Park'
of New Providence, Minister of the Environment and Housing the Hon.
Kenred Dorsett said.
“Those
of us of a certain age surely can recall when the Nassau Botanical
Gardens was a breathtaking sight to behold,” Mr. Dorsett said. “Many of
us would have attended weddings or other events there when the
waterfalls were operational and the pathways were in better condition.
The Gardens are still a tranquil oasis in the middle of the city but it
is not in the operational state that it used to be...

commenced the design of artwork for their Sir Nicholas Nuttall Coral
Reef Sculpture Garden that will be installed in the near-shore waters of

Bahamas - Airports Council International (ACI) recently announced LPIA
as the recipient of the 2013 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award for
Best Improvement By Region: Latin America-Caribbean category. The award
recognizes extensive improvements made to the airport during a
three-phased, $409 million redevelopment at LPIA
