1Tim.6:
12.
Fight the good fight of faith, lay
hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good
profession before many witnesses.
This
word FIGHT in the Greek is:
Agonizomai, ag-o-nid'-zom-ahee; which
has several meanings such: (1) to struggle, (2) to compete for a prize, (3) to
contend with an adversary, (4) to endeavor to accomplish something, (5) to labor
& (6) to fervently, strive.
We’re
living in a day and time where many Religious Christians within the church (The
Household of Faith), based upon their actions when pressed by some of life’s
challenges and their spoken words, it clearly reveals that they’re living /
walking by sight; and not faith which is contrary to
(2Corinth.5:
7.For
we walk by faith, not by sight:).
As spoken before and is
a proven fact that there’s a vast difference between that of being a Christian,
and that of being a disciple.
Remember:
The religious definition of a Christian is to
be Christ like / or a follower of Christ, but nothing could be further from the
truth; as nowhere in the scripture can it be found where Yahshua Messiah
(a.k.a. Jesus the Christ) never once referred to or ever called His followers
“Christians”
but rather He calls them disciples.
Matt.9:
37.
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the
labourers are few;
Matt.16:
13.
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,
saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
Matt.19:
23.
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I
say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
John.6:
12.
When they were filled, he said unto his
disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
John.8:
31.
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed
on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
John.11:
7.
Then after that saith he to his disciples,
Let us go into Judaea again.
The
word Christian is mentioned twice in the bible (The New Testament), its first
introduction was from a demeaning, a scoffing and ridicule point that also
brought about much suffering and persecution.
(1) Acts.26:
28.
Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou
persuadest me to be a Christian.
And
(2)
1Peter.4:
16.
Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let
him glorify God on this behalf.
Unlike
today’s wavering Christians; Discipleship of Yahshua Messiah are people of
faith that have an understanding, a genuine working knowledge of the word and
concept of faith. Therefore when the Apostle Paul said to Timothy
“1Tim.6:
12.
Fight the good fight of faith, lay
hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good
profession before many witnesses” He (Timothy) readily embraced Paul’s
charge.
In
the Greek this word faith is:
Pistis, Pis'-tis; which has several
meanings such as (1) persuasion, (2) credence, (3) conviction, (4) a system of believe,
or (5) an assurance,
In
this day and time it’s of the utmost importance that the saints also have an
understanding, a genuine working knowledge of word and concept faith.
Erroneous religious teachings and beliefs have
many well meaning saints living in ignorance of the fact that as a soldier in
God’s army (Yahweh’s army) we’re engaged in a constant spiritual battle;
whether we want to participate or not.
Here’s
the Apostle Paul’s instructions, words of wisdom and advice to the saints that
are at Ephesus.
Eph.6:
11.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may
be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
:12.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness
of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
:13.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of
God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand.
:14.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about
with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
:15.
And your feet shod with the preparation of
the gospel of peace;
:16.
Above all, taking the shield of faith,
wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
:17.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the
sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
:18.
Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints;
Don’t
allow yourself to be taken by religious hype and rhetoric; don’t settle for
being a wavering Christian, for in so doing you won’t be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil and fight the good fight of faith.
