RBPF Nassau: Police investigating a shooting incident which has left an adult female detained in hospital

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on New Providence are investigation a shooting incident Thursday, 21st November, 2019 which has left an adult female detained in hospital.

According to reports, shortly after 10:00pm, two women were at Amos Ferguson Street, when they got into an argument with a male known to them, who shot them before run away. One of the injured women was transported to hospital and is listed in stable condition. The second woman declined medical attention.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY – 1 MALE IN
CUSTODY

Police on New Providence have taken one man in custody and have recovered an illegal firearm, as they continue investigations into an armed robbery which occurred Friday, 22nd November, 2019.

According to reports, shortly before 1:00am, a man was walking on Quarry Mission Road, when he was approached by a male armed with a firearm, who robbed him of a gold chain and a cell phone, before running away. Police Officers responded to this incident and while searching the immediate area, arrested 20 male of Hospital Lane in connection with this incident. 

Investigations are ongoing.

DANGEROUS DRUGS RECOVERED – 2 ADULTS IN CUSTODY

A 66 year old male from Switzerland was taken into custody at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) on Thursday, 21st November 2019, after he was found in possession of dangerous drugs. 

According to reports, shortly before 12:00noon Thursday, 21st November, 2019 Drug Enforcement Officers, while at the Bahamas Customs Hall at Lynden Pindling International Airport, acting on intelligence, selected the man, who had just arrived on a flight from Panama, for a secondary search. On searching his bag, officers discovered in a false compartment a black taped package with suspected cocaine.

Value: $50,000.00

The man was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a magistrate court this week.

ARMED ROBBERY SAFETY TIPS –
  • PERSONNEL SAFETY FIRST! MONEY AND MERCHANDISE ARE NOT IMPORTANT AND CAN BE REPLACED
  • Stay calm and don’t resist.
  • Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
  • Do not follow the robber.
  • Install surveillance cameras and ensure that they are in working condition
