RBPF Nassau: Police investigates armed robbery - Illegal ammunition and firearm recovered

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY  

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are seeking assistance in identifying and locating the person responsible for an armed robbery which occurred Thursday, 1st August, 2019.

According to reports, shortly after 11:00am, a man was walking in the parking lot of a bank, on East Bay Street, when he was approached by the armed man who held him at bay and robbed him of a bag containing cash and other items before getting into a white Honda Stream and speeding away. 

Investigations are ongoing.

ILLEGAL AMMUNITION AND FIREARM RECOVERED

In the first incident, shortly after 10:00am Thursday 1st August, 2019, Anti-Gang and Firearm Officers, acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area on Cowpen Road and recovered thirty (30) rounds of .40 ammunition.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly before 2:00am, Friday 2nd August, 2019, Flying Squad Officers acting on information conducted a search of a building under construction at Dumpers Curt off Dumping Ground Corner and recovered a shotgun. 

No arrest was made in these incidents. Investigations are ongoing

72 FIXED PENALTY NOTICES ISSUED TO DRIVERS BY
TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT OFFICERS IN PAST 48 HOUR  

Officers from the traffic Department conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of eleven (11) persons for outstanding traffic warrants, shop breaking, stealing over the past 48 hours. 

Additionally, 72 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations such as driving in access of the speed limit and driving unlicensed vehicles.

PREVENTION CRIME TIP - TAKE A STAND AGAINST ILLEGAL FIREARMS BY COOPERATING WITH THE POLICE IN PROVIDING INFORMATION REGARDING THE WHEREABOUTS OF ANY ILLEGAL FIREARM.
