Nassau, Bahamas - The Bahamas Judo Federation held its Fall Classic Judo tournament on Saturday October 24. There were over 70 athletes and 200 spectators in attendance. A team from Abaco as well as the Special Olympics Team competed in regular divisions of the tournament. There were several standout performances as both male and female athletes ranging from ages eight to adult participated.

"We were delighted with the level of Judo," said David Rahming, Coach of the Fox Hill Club and Special Olympics."You are seeing more dynamic and complex techniques that are seen on the international stage. We are definitely leaps and bounds above where we were even a year ago."

The following awards have been decided based on the results of the Tournament: The Competitors Award- Tajaro Hudson;  Best Ippon (Submission) Award - Cynthia Rahming; The Humphrey "Trod" Jackman Special Olympics Award - Zecumba Major. "We are proud to give this award in memory of my friend Trod, who died tragically this year. He was a Special Olympian and he should not be forgotten," said Bahamas Judo Federation President D'Arcy Rahming.

"This tournament was very important for the Abaco kids to participate in and we were delighted with their performance," said Abaco Coach Regina Parotti Kennedy.
