NASSAU, The Bahamas – University of Oklahoma junior Jacobi Mitchell finished a busy, but successful, weekend at the Bahamian National Track and Field Championships at Thomas A. Robinson Stadium.

Mitchell will represent the Bahamas in several international events this summer after scoring a second-place finish in the men’s 200-meter dash (20.98) Saturday night and third-place result in the 100 (10.56) on Friday.

With his efforts, the Freeport native will compete in both sprint races at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Championships in San Salvador, El Salvador, July 13-15, and the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 23-29.

Mitchell could possibly earn a spot on the Bahamas 4x100-meter relay that will compete at the World Athletics Championships in Osaka, Japan, Aug. 25-Sept. 2.

Mitchell earned All-America honors in 2007 after anchoring the OU men’s 4x100-meter relay to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
