Dates for Grand Bahama’s best-organized summer sports camp – the Premier League Soccer Camp - have been set.

The event, which last year attracted 200 local youngsters aged 7 to 17, will kick off at 9:00 am on June 25 and close early afternoon June 29 with an awards ceremony and a demonstration match involving all the coaches as well as local players.

That same night there will be a dinner for the adults at which guests can rub shoulders with famous coaches while enjoying fine food and drink, listen to local entertainment, and, if they wish, participate in a lively auction of valuable sports memorabilia.

As usual kids taking part will receive two full, authentic soccer uniforms – shirts, shorts and socks – as well as lunch each day, snacks morning and afternoon, plenty to drink and the chance to have a cooling swim at midday.

Freeport Rugby Football Club has again agreed to allow its Settlers Way field to be the venue for the event.   There is ample parking space for those parents who want to watch their kids being put through their paces before activities end at 3pm each day.

“This has to be the best summer camp value on the island.   Six hours a day for a week, world-class coaching, food, drink, and lots of fun,” said one of the organisers Mark Hardy, whose rugby club-based boys’ soccer development program has benefited from the extra skills many of his players have acquired in recent years.

“I know many of my girls are looking forward to this.   They always have a great time,” said Mary Woodside, who with her husband ex-pro player Donnie Knowles, organizes the island’s girls’ soccer development program held at GB Catholic High.

The fee to attend is $175.   Registration forms are available at Town & Country in Yellow Pine Street and Animale in Port Lucaya, from school physical education teachers, OR is attached here below. Click, print, and complete.
