Grand Bahama Island - The Bahamas Weekly News Team was on hand at the screening of "Artists of the Bahamas" at the Regency Theatre in Freeport on January 11th, 2009. The special screening to place in support of the Grand Bahama Heritage Foundation and was organized by co-chairpersons, Chantal Bethel and Laurie Tuchel. Our Team also had an opportunity to interview the filmmakers during their stay on Grand Bahama.
In this video you will hear from filmmakers, Karen Arthur and Tom Neuwirth as they speak about how their documentary idea was spawned, and how they proceeded with their film. They also speak on their extensive background in film and television and their recent shift over to documentary filmmaking. They share how they were able to secure Sir Sidney Poitier for the film's introduction, and discuss some of the controversy that has arisen from the film.
You will also hear from Jackson Burnside and Antonius Roberts, featured artists in the film during an invigorating and passionate Question & Answer session at the screening at the Regency Theatre.
Also featured are comments by Dr. Pamela Etuk and attorney Fred Smith during that Q & A.
