Watch a film about flying to Nassau, New Providence in The Bahamas in the  1950s in a DC-3. Footage from Global Image Works travel film archives.

Pan American Airways (PAA) is featured and the film depicts the ease of flying over to Nassau from Miami in only 70 minutes... View aerial footage of Nassau.

A wonderful historic piece, where you will view the British Colonial Hotel, the Montague Hotel, Government House, The Bahamas Police Force, the Duchess and Duke of Windsor, Nassau Harbour dock activity, horse drawn buggies, beach activities, sailing clubs, the Bahamas Country Club golf course, waterskiing (then a new sport) in the canals and open ocean, sport fishing (watch a marlin being caught), the village of Adelaide, Treasure Island, Andros Island, flamingos in abundance, historic forts, arts and crafts in production (fish scale, shell, and palm frond), natural sponge, the flora and fauna of The Bahamas.

A few comments from viewers at YouTube.com:

Amazing film, our country is beautiful and so are we. Those of who love this place must encourage, and teach our children about the past.

If the Duke of Windsor was in this footage as the Royal Governor, this is about 65+ years old!!! A lot has changed now, its nothing like this today!!!! Lisbon was the port of departure during WWII to the United States through Bermuda!

WOW - what a trip back in time!

(This film was photographed and produced by Palmer Miller and Curtis F. Nagel, and was narrated by Clyde Kittel)
