Bahamian filmmaker releases "Atlas Calling" as an urgent call to protect the ocean - Jun 17, 2016 - 5:51:59 PM
Award winning Bahamian filmmaker and underwater photographer Eddy Raphael has released his next short film based on the ocean, called ATLAS CALLING.
Featured in the film is Rosie Poirier, a Canadian student who came to The Bahamas to help with the Young Marine Explorers (YME) and to help educate young Bahamians about ocean conservation.
"I helped to make this film to convey an urgent message, that our oceans sustain
all human life," said Rosie, "...giving the planet more than half of its oxygen, it gives us a climate
we can live in, beauty, inspiration, new medicines, recreation and food, and it
needs our help..."

Our first installment of Amor Alimentos, was held at
the 1 ER CRU Courtyard at Bristol Wines and Spirits on Valentine’s Day.
Foodie lovers from all over the New Providence island were treated to beautiful decor,
sweet music by DJ Pressure and the Tingum Dem Band, an international
cheese board and live carving station and food that had the guests
cheering.
Amor Alimentos' private chef, Chef Wayne Moncur whipped up a
tapas style tasting menu that left tongues wagging and gave attendees,

exciting month for the Ministry of Tourism, as we culminate a year of
celebrating 50 years of the establishment of tourism promotion, which
commenced January 2014.
This final leg of 50 years of tourism is married to tourism week,
where there will be a variety of initiatives taking place through out
the islands.
Grand Bahama Island kicked off its tourism awareness initiatives on
Friday, January 16th with the rest of the country with the 16 island
wedding promotion. Our couple from Ohio wed at sanctuary bay to the
backdrop of dolphins.
We begin this week of awareness by educating, celebrating and serving
the industry and community at large and most importantly, our team will
worship together and give thanks with our industry partners and Cacique
finalists, on Sunday, February 1st...

Russian adventurer, Sergei Morozov who has been in Grand Bahama for over a month during his journey around the world.
Sergei traveled from Bermuda
to Grand Bahama, but his trip began from Halifax, Canada on the 5th of
December 2011. He is preparing to next 'row around the world' and break a
world rowing record. "The leg between Halifax and Bermuda was my
hardest part of my trip..." he explains with very bad conditions causing
him to fear for his life.
While in Grand Bahama Morozov has his
35 foot Hikari sailboat, "Dreamaker"
docked at
the Port Lucaya Marina, thanks to Preben Olesen and the Grand Bahama Yacht Club. His next stop is the Panama Canal

Conch Salad TV: Saving San Salvador's Iguanas - Jun 7, 2012 - 3:44:18 PM
The Bahamas is home
to several species of iguanas, but some are doing better than others. In
an effort to help the San Salvador iguana population, Seacology and
CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank teamed up to fund the San Salvador Iguana
Conservation Centre. The Centre is located at Gerace Research Center,
and overseen by Professor William Hayes of Loma Linda University. Local
conservation organization San Salvador’s Living Jewels is involved with
education efforts and raising awareness of the importance of habitat
conservation to the iguana’s future.
