Born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, Lavado Stubbs is a visionary Director – Producer who has been on a journey to express his voice through visuals from when he entered the world. He has created a myriad amount of award-winning films and music videos that he considers to be his works of art.
He has film experience in Nassau, Bahamas; Toronto, Canada; Orlando, Florida and Los Angeles, California. This includes working as a director-producer for a number of music videos, and producing a reality show sizzle reel, documentaries and short films. Lavado has worked in the production of a Food Network reality show called “Restaurant Makeover” in Toronto. He also worked for Nickelodeon for their Teen Nick Halo Awards segments. He recently worked in the Post-Production/Story Department for MTV, The Real World Show.
In 2008, he attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from York University in Toronto, Canada. He channels his sociology qualities to relate them to his directing techniques. Also, in 2008 he achieved his first film award at the Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) Reel Life Documentary competition with his short documentary, “Ma Boy I Speak Bahamian” which was also an official selection at BIFF, claiming local rave reviews. Among his other accomplishments: his music videos are aired on national networks such as Much Music and Tempo Network, and viral networks such as Americafree.tv. As a result one of his music videos has gained a nomination for best hip-hop music video at the Americafree.tv music video awards and also one of his video was deemed a “hot one” on a major magazine website.
Lavado Stubbs also attained a Bachelor of Science in Film from Full Sail University. In 2010 he directed his second short- documentary titled, AFTER: The Kellie Greene Story. AFTER: The Kellie Greene Story won 1st place at the Enzian Film Slam Film competition. It was chosen among several films as one of the Best of Brouhaha Film and Video Showcase. AFTER: The Kellie Greene Story went on to become an official selection of several film festivals, one of those festivals being the Florida Film Festival which is one of the 26 film festivals located in the United States that are considered as an Oscar-qualifying film festival. AFTER: The Kellie Greene Story also was selected for a special screening at the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmakers Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival in France, also known as Festival de Cannes. AFTER: The Kellie Greene Story has also achieved a major distribution deal, which it now airs on Direct TV.
